Characteristics and Effects of Phramaha Vudhijaya Vajiramedhi (V.Vajiramedhi)’s Proactive Dharma Propagation

Abstract


This research aims to study the characteristics and the impacts of Phramaha Vudhijaya Vajiramedhi (V.Vajiramedhi)’s proactive dharma propagation and to synthesize the approaches of proactive dharma propagation in the ๒๑st century. The research methodology consists of record form, interview form, and group discussion. Phramaha Vudhijaya Vajiramedhi is the key informant for the interview and the focus group discussion was conducted for the key informants on Phramaha Vudhijaya Vajiramedhi (V.Vajiramedhi)’s proactive dharma propagation. The data triangulation with contrastive analysis and the lessons learned from the propagation works are adopted. The synthesis of proactive propagation in the ๒๑st century is examined by ๕ experts.  The research findings are as follows: ๑) In terms of the characteristics and the impacts of Phramaha Vudhijaya Vajiramedhi (V.Vajiramedhi)’s proactive dharma propagation, he employs the dharma propagation process in his books, namely, design, size, content, taste, and image. As a result of this, his books have been reprinted several times, because their contents are simple, understandable, and able to be applied in daily life of the readers. His Dharma discours eisbased on nine principles, namely (๑) topic, (๒) connection with Buddha dharma, (๓) example, (๔) suitable media, (๕) suitable time to use media, (๖) following the planned process, (๗) assessment, (๘) record of the complete ones on CDs or books, and (๙) store of all data in the database system. In terms of the synthesis of the approaches of proactive dharma propagation in the ๒๑st century, the researcher studies the characteristics of the ๒๑st century from the framework for the ๒๑st century learning and analyses the related dharma principles, and then synthesizes the way of proactive dharma propagation in the ๒๑st century. It consists of thinking principles and the propagation approaches based on the elements of the framework for the ๒๑st century learning.
