ANALYTIC STUDY OF ART IN MAṅGALATTHADîPANî

Abstract

This article aims to study the concept of art and evaluation of art in the Maṅngalatthadîpaî. It is an analytical study of documentary investigation. The results of the study were as follows:
Art, in the Maṅgalatthadîpanî, means proficiency in all branches of learning and crafts. Two types of crafts mentioned were harmless crafts of homeless and those of the householder. Harmless crafts of the householder involve work that causes no harm to any living being and is conductive to the well-being of the world. The evaluation of homeless crafts are sources of happiness in the present and future life while householder only present life.
