พระเจ้าพร้าโต้ : มรดกภูมิปัญญาทางวัฒนธรรมอำเภอลอง จังหวัดแพร่

บทคัดย่อ

          พระเจ้าพร้าโต้ หรือ พระพุทธรูปที่แกะสลักด้วยมีดอีโต้ เกิดจากภูมิปัญญาชาวบ้าน ผู้สร้างต้องใช้ความพยายามอย่างยิ่งในการแกะสลักให้ออกมาสวยงามและสร้างให้เสร็จภายใน 1 วัน โดยเริ่มแกะตั้งแต่ตะวันขึ้นและเสร็จในตอนตะวันตกดินพอดี จึงมีชื่อเรียกกันอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า “พระเจ้าทันใจ” และมีความเชื่อว่าหากได้กราบไหว้พระเจ้าพร้าโต้ จะทำให้ประสบความสำเร็จดั่งปรารถนา พระเจ้าพร้าโต้ถือเป็นมรดกภูมิปัญญาทางวัฒนธรรมของอำเภอลอง จังหวัดแพร่ ที่มีอายุมากถึง 237 ปี เป็นพระพุทธรูปที่มีอัตลักษณ์โดดเด่น มีพระเกศพุ่มสูงใหญ่ พระเกศา (ผม) เป็นหนามแหลมที่แสดงถึงความเฉียบแหลมแห่งปัญญา พระกรรณ (หู) ที่กว้างใหญ่ สัญลักษณ์ความเป็น ผู้รู้มาก ฟังมาก และมีพระพักตร์ เป็นใบหน้าที่ยิ้มอย่างสงบแสดงถึงเมตตาธรรม นอกจากนี้ พระเจ้าพร้าโต้ยังเป็นพระพุทธรูปที่มีคุณค่างดงามด้านพุทธศิลป์ และแฝงไปด้วยคติธรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนา ปัจจุบันพระเจ้าพร้าโต้ได้ประดิษฐาน ณ วัดศรีดอนคำ อำเภอลอง จังหวัดแพร่ โดยมีการเก็บรักษาไว้ในพิพิธภัณฑ์ พร้อมกับพระพุทธรูปไม้แกะสลักองค์เล็กอีกนับพันองค์

Abstract

          Phra Chao Phrato or Buddha image carved with Ito knife was born from folk wisdom The builder had to put a lot of effort to carve it out beautifully and complete it within 1 day, starting carve at sunrise and finishing at sunset. Therefore, it had known as another name "Khao Tanjai" and It believed that if anyone worshiped Phra Chao will make the desired success. Phra Chao Prato was considered as an intangible cultural heritage of Long District, Phrae Province that was 237 years old. It was a Buddha image with outstanding identity. There was a large, high bush. The hair (hair) was a sharp thorn that meaned the acumen of wisdom. The large ears (ears) symbolize being very knowledgeable, listening a lot, and having a face. The face looked that smile calmly, showing kindness. In addition, Phra Chao Prato was also a valuable Buddha image and it had more beautiful Buddhist art and concealed with Buddhist morality. At present, Phra Chao Prato was enshrined at Wat Sri Don Kham, Long District, Phrae Province, which is preserved the museum and with thousands of small carved wooden Buddha images.
