Vinayavinicchaya and Uttaravinvicchaya : A Translation and Analytical Study

Abstract


The research has three purposes : 1) to study the background of Vinayavinicchaya and Uttaravinvicchaya in composer’s history and works, composition and the pattern of composition of Vinayavinicchaya and Uttaravinvicchaya, 2) to study the structures and the contents of Vinayavinicchaya and Uttaravinvicchaya and 3) to study the body of knowledge diagnosis of Vinaya in Vinayavinicchaya and Uttaravinvicchaya. This research is a documentary research. The research is found that Vinayavinicchaya and Uttaravinvicchaya was composed by Buddhadatta Mahathera who lived in south India. The Venareble compiled the contents of the Vinaya Pitaka scriptures. Vinayavinicchaya and Uttaravinvicchaya was composed by maen of the prosody. The structure of Both consists of discipline of the monks and nuns, Mahavagga and culavagga and Parivara. These two scripture are composed by mean of using various types of Pali Prosody, such as Mattasamaka Vijjummala Indavajira etc. The body of knowledge diagnosis of Vinaya in Vinayavinicchaya and Uttaravinvicchaya is the diagnosis thesaurus consisting of place, person, object, object. The body of knowledge diagnosis of Vinaya in the discipline is an important form of disciplinary analysis in the canticle of the monks and nuns. These diagnostic models Is consistent with the disciplinary discipline in the scriptures from the The Vinayapitaka to commentaries.
